A Very Merry Low-Waste Christmas
How to Have a Low-Waste Christmas
Kind beauty isn't just for Christmas, but it's where you can start...
We don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing we need. And that is for Christmas to be kinder to the planet. Every year an extra 30% of rubbish is made and thrown away during the festive season, in comparison to the rest of the year. Horrifically, £42 million worth of unwanted Christmas presents are thrown into landfill annually and we want to do our bit to stop that.
Thoughtful gift-buying from brands that care about their environmental impact, is the way forward to combatting careless Christmasses that harm our lovely planet.
We have come up with some tips and tricks to help you have a very merry, low-waste Christmas.
Low-waste Christmas Tips
1. WRAP UP NON-RECYCLABLE GIFT WRAP: When wrapping up your gifts for under the tree, think about opting for recyclable gift-wrap that won’t be thrown into landfill, but broken down and used again. Brown paper and glitter-less paper are good options for this.
2. BUY WITH PURPOSE:
Really think about the presents you are buying your loved ones. Will they actually use it? Ask about people’s interests if you are unsure and research. We have a whole Reusable Bamboo Beauty range, that is designed to change daily beauty regimes for good. Check it out here for inspiration.
3. FUNCTIONAL PRESENTS:
Think about the service each present will provide for them. This jumper will keep them warm. This makeup brush cleaner will solve their problem of never washing their brushes. Presents with purpose are the best!
4. RECYCLE PACKAGING:
Once all the presents are torn open in excitement on Christmas morning, make sure you put all recyclable packaging and wrapping into the right bins. The three wise R’s- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
5. HOMEMADE DECORATIONS:
Got some oranges that are on the turn? Why don’t you dry them out in the oven and make a gorgeous garland or present toppers for a homemade touch to your festivities!
